Social Media Marketing for the Holidays

With the hustle and bustle of holidays soon approaching, many companies are trying new ideas on how to get their products inside the mind of the consumers. Consumers are projected to spend a grand total of $650 billion dollars through the course of the season. This is no wonder why nearly 70% of the brands in the US are using a form of social media marketing campaign.
With 67% of companies stating that they will be investing more money into social media marketing there will be a huge amount of money spent on social media marketing in the holiday months. Facebook is the biggest target for these brands with a 92% of the social media based marketing going towards it, as opposed to twitter or other websites that are both only at 4%. Though Facebook is the largest there a trends towards reaching out to newer untested sites for marketing like Snapchat, Swarm and Instagram, with Instagram predicted to be the biggest marketing breakout of the 2014 holiday season.
With there being a massive amount of users on social media websites and a growing trend there is no doubt that the future of marketing during the holidays lies in the realm of social media and will only continue to grow stronger.

IS that will add the Gluten intolerant and Celiacs

With all the people in today’s world that are becoming more and more aware of their celiac disease or intolerance of gluten, myself included, making a device that is able to scan food to detect the ingredients inside would be very helpful. With the new start-up called 6SensorLabs a device like that is something that could be made available to the public fairly soon.
A product like this would shine light on to the problems that affect many people that are affected by glutenous foods. They would no longer have to play the guessing game when it comes to food that is prepared at restaurants. A simple scan would allow the user to identify all the ingredients inside the food and able to assess whether or not the food is safe to eat.
M.I.T graduates, Shireen Yates and Scott Sundvor, founded the company. They say that their product will be fast and reliable; it will even be for purchase at $150, which is about half the price of their biggest competitor the Tellspec food scanner. They also hope to create scanners that are able to detect other types of allergens in foods.
The start-up has already compiled 4 million dollars from outside investor and is predicted to release their gluten scanner to the public early next year.

Self-driving cars the problems faced in development

The thought of self-driving car is a very interesting advancement in technology that may be seen on roads in the near future but there are many challenges that are faced by companies that are developing this kind of technology. Many of the problems faced are with the information systems that are used in to make the car function properly. Some of these systems range from manageable problems like detecting glare from snow on the road or accounting for misbehaving children inside the car, to much harder to fix problems such as system design failures.
One of the greatest problems faced when developing this technology not being able to justify whether or not the completely self-driving car system is safe without the existing software designed to work with the car. The developers also stated that designing a fully automated car is much harder than the already existing technology of automated flight because of the fact they have to develop an information that is designed to interact with the mass amount of cars and traffic on the road.  As well as an information system that is used to make the correct responses in time of an emergency.
With these problems that the developers are facing in the creation of a self-driving car it may be years until they are made available for the public to buy.

The Role of Computers in My Life
The role that computers play in my life right now is huge and the fact of the matter is that its role will only get bigger as my life goes on. I use computers to connect with friends, for study and doing research for classes, writing blogs for CIS 200, among tons of other examples that I could list out for hours. In the last year, there as maybe been one or two days that I did not run into or use some sort of the information system. So it is safe to say the influence of computers plays a very strong role within in life right now.
As our world continues to advance technologically, the role of computers in the work force will only become greater. Therefore, when I enter the work force as a graduate I will only become more influenced with computerized technology and even more so over time. In any career field in business it is hard to find a job that is not using the advances in technology to make jobs more efficient, so hoping to avoid tech in the business world would be very hard.

I love the fact that computers are making tasks easier and easier the more advance that they become, this makes life a lot easier for everyone and I am excited to see what the future of technology hold for us. However, at the same time I cannot help but feel slightly terrified by the thought that with future advances in technology it will make things so easy that our society will become lazy to the point where nothing can be done without the use of some sort of computerized technology.
